IMAS unveils polymer-based roller mill chassis | World Grain

KONYA, TURKEY — IMAS has released a new roller mill chassis composed of polymeric material called Polymer Base Construction.

The company said that unlike traditional roller mill chassis, which are made of welded steel or cast iron, Polymer Base Construction features better vibration damping properties that provide higher reliability and extended long-term durability for roller mills. electric melting furnace

IMAS said it has been working on the use of polymeric composites in the chassis construction of IMAS machinery since 2020. After the completion of product development, real-time testing, and patenting, the Multimilla Roller Mill with Polymer Base Construction recently was released for customers worldwide.

“At IMAS, we believe that the reliability of our machines is just as important as our technology,” said Murat Apakhan, production manager and R&D deputy general manager for IMAS. “For this reason, we continuously develop the structural design of our machines and systems through new engineering standards. Today, we believe that we took a leading step with the first use of polymeric composites in the milling industry.’’

As well as the Multimilla roller mill, Polymer Base Construction has been introduced in some of IMAS’ feed milling equipment, including the Viteral series flake roller, hammermill, and pellet press machines.

Tests and measurements carried out by IMAS R&D center engineers and scientists from Konya Technical University and Necmettin Erbakan University determined that polymeric composite material has nearly 10 times better vibration damping ability than cast iron and 20 times better than welded steel.

High machinery vibration levels can have a disruptive effect on the sensitive operating adjustments of machines, which also may lead to inconsistency in the process and product quality. For this reason, damping of the vibration and keeping the resonance under critical levels is crucial for both the durability of machinery and buildings.

As well as its better vibration damping ability, the polymeric composite chassis material hasIMAS comparatively lower thermal conductivity, higher rigidity and corrosion resistance properties, and also has better production flexibility advantages with reduced production time, cost, and carbon footprint.
