Agents with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) said they found 17 bullets that had been "artfully concealed" inside a clean disposable diaper.

The otherwise clean diaper was pulled from a man's carry-on bag when it triggered an alarm in the security checkpoint X-ray unit, TSA reported.

The Arkansas resident first told officials he didn't know how the bullet-filled diaper made it into his carry-on bag but then said his girlfriend must have put it in there.

Port Authority Police were notified and cited the man with unlawful possession of the 9mm ammunition.

"Apparently this guy needs a bullet-proof plan for packing his carry-on bag before heading to the airport for his next flight," the news release said.

Recently, TSA officers at LaGuardia also found a .45-caliber pistol and a magazine loaded with six bullets hidden in a pair of Nike sneakers.

"Attempting to conceal firearms inside shoes in a checked bag doesn’t cut it," TSA’s Federal Security Director for the airport, Robert Duffy said. "If you want to travel with your gun, travelers only need to pack it properly."

Anti Tamper Labels Passengers wanting to properly travel with a firearm should make sure it is unloaded and packed in a hard-sided locked case. The locked case should be taken to the airline check-in counter to be declared.
